So small and vulnerable this baby will grow up to be a full grown Sloth. As grown ups the sloths have a bad reputation, thought to be dirty, useless animals that carry disease but that’s quite untrue. The del Cariber, the Sloth Rescue Center, the only sloth research center in the world rescues and re-habilitates injured and abandoned sloths.

Sloths are medium-sized mammals that live in Central America belonging to the families Megalonychidae and Bradypodidae, part of the order Pilosa.

Sloths spend so much time with their legs above their bodies, their hairs grow away from the extremities in order to provide protection from the elements while the sloth hangs upside down. They are highly adapted to living in the treetops by being quite light for their size and having a tenacious grip. They also are amazingly resilient creatures, surviving falls of over 90′ and by having the ability to recover from the most grievous of wounds.
