Uganda gets its maximum foreign exchange earnings from tourism. Gorilla safaris top the list. The Uganda Wildlife Authority is in charge of management of 10 National Parks, 12 Wildlife Reserves. Its main revenue sources from gorilla tourism are:
• Park entrances and Permits which include the chimpanzee and gorilla permits.
• Accommodation camps in the national parks. The UWA camps are common in the national parks.
The fee for the permits were raised this year to US$500 per permit for foreign non-residents. East Africans and foreign residents will pay US$475 per permit, while Ugandans will now pay Ush150,000.
